Your documents
Your imported documents, bookmarks, reading position and reading preferences stay in the app on your device. Audio may be cached locally; device backup and cache settings can affect retention.
Creating speech
Selected text is sent through Folio’s Google Cloud service to Google Cloud Text-to-Speech to generate audio. Folio does not intentionally store or log your document text on the server. Generated audio is privately cached by account. Cloud storage is configured to delete audio after one day; cloud deletion is asynchronous.
Identity and service records
Firebase anonymous authentication and App Check help protect speech requests. Usage counters, request hashes and timestamps enforce quotas and prevent duplicate generation. Request and usage records have a 90-day expiration policy. Google Cloud request and security logs can contain IP addresses and request metadata.
Accounts and purchases
Optional email accounts and Apple subscriptions are being prepared and are not publicly enabled. When enabled, email addresses support sign-in, verification and password reset; subscription identifiers, status and account bindings support purchase validation. Apple handles payment card details. Trial-use counters enforce the one-time sample.
Account deletion
Cloud account deletion is being prepared. During testing, contact support for requests about account-linked data. Deleting Folio or its account does not cancel an Apple subscription. Local documents remain unless you remove them.
Tracking
Folio includes no advertising SDK or Firebase Analytics. Word highlighting uses on-device speech recognition where supported and permitted.
